About Kristen Thomasen

Dr. Kristen Thomasen rejoined Windsor Law as an Associate Professor and Chair in Law, Robotics, and Society in 2024. She was previously an Assistant Professor in Law, Robotics, and Society at Windsor Law from 2017 to 2020, and an Assistant Professor at Allard Law at UBC from 2021 to 2024.
Professor Thomasen researches and teaches in Tort Law and Law and Technology, with a particular focus on the legal treatment of robotic and automated technologies, surveillance, and outer space.
She recently served as the Chair of We Robot 2025, one of the world’s leading interdisciplinary conferences on robotics law and policy, which was hosted at Windsor Law April 4–5, 2025. She has been a member of the program committee for this internationally recognized conference, highlighting her leadership and influence in the field.
Dr. Thomasen’s groundbreaking work has earned her global recognition, and she is regularly invited to speak at conferences and events around the world. Her expertise is widely sought in discussions on legal frameworks, policy, and regulation surrounding artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
